This page details how to run a technical check when first launching Chaos Arena.


## **Overview**

Prior to launching Arena for the first time, we recommend running a technical check to make sure everything works as expected.


## **GPU Setup**

---

1. <span style="color: #000000">Check that each render machine is using</span><span style="color: #000000">** NVIDIA drivers (537.42)**</span><span style="color: #000000"> or newer. Latest drives are recommended.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Enable </span><span style="color: #000000">**V-Sync**</span><span style="color: #000000"> (</span><span style="color: #000000">*NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Vertical sync*</span><span style="color: #000000">).</span>
3. <span style="color: #000000">Set up </span><span style="color: #000000">**Quadro Sync**</span><span style="color: #000000"> timing server and clients (</span><span style="color: #000000">*NVIDIA Control Panel > Synchronize Displays*</span><span style="color: #000000">).</span>


## **Color Management Setup**

---

<span style="color: #000000">For </span><span style="color: #000000">**HDR output**</span><span style="color: #000000"> (recommended):</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">Enable </span><span style="color: #000000">**HDR**</span><span style="color: #000000"> in Windows (</span><span style="color: #000000">**Display Settings **</span><span style="color: #000000">></span><span style="color: #000000">** Use HDR**</span><span style="color: #000000">). This is optional, and it depends on the LED processors, as they usually have their own options.</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Enable </span><span style="color: #000000">**HDR**</span><span style="color: #000000"> in the </span><span style="color: #000000">**LED processors,**</span><span style="color: #000000"> if needed (possible options are HDR/HDR10 format, PQ/ST2084 transfer function/gamma/EOTF, Rec.2020/Rec.2100/BT.2020/BT.2100 color space/gamut).</span>

<span style="color: #000000">For normal </span><span style="color: #000000">**SDR sRGB output**</span><span style="color: #000000">:</span>

1. <span style="color: #000000">Disable </span><span style="color: #000000">**HDR**</span><span style="color: #000000"> in Windows (</span><span style="color: #000000">**Display Settings > Use HDR**</span><span style="color: #000000">).</span>
2. <span style="color: #000000">Set up </span><span style="color: #000000">**sRGB**</span><span style="color: #000000"> input in the LED processors (Rec.709/BT.709/sRGB color space/gamut, sRGB transfer function).</span>


## **Permissions**

---

<span style="color: #000000">Start </span><span style="color: #000000">**“arena_server.exe”**</span><span style="color: #000000"> and </span><span style="color: #000000">**“vantage.exe”**</span><span style="color: #000000"> on each node to check that everything works as expected. Watch for the following things which might result in slow/endless Vantage startup times:</span>

- <span style="color: #000000">Windows permission pop-ups for starting the software (allow execution if needed)</span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Windows security pop-ups</span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Windows Defender/other antivirus pop-ups (Win Defender constantly scanning, etc.)</span>
- <span style="color: #000000">Firewall pop-ups (add rules if needed)</span>
