The documentation needs an up-to-date sitemap, so that accurate results will appear in search engines and we will get more traffic to our site.

> ❌ **Do not use the built-in tool in Refined** to update the sitemap, as that will override our custom map. The built-in tool does not crawl all pages, leaving about 1500 URLs missing, which is something we don’t want!

## **Updating the Sitemap**

---

Usually, Digimentals send over a new sitemap every three months. Contact @Kristina Gaytandzhieva for info on the sitemap status. And that sitemap needs to be uploaded to the Online Refined site.

- To create a new sitemap outside of the ordinary schedule, write an email to chris@digimentals.com, but make sure to include simeon.dosev@chaos.com as a CC, asking for a new sitemap. Make sure to mention that you need a sitemap that includes the force-crawled pages.
- Then, you need to contact [Refined support](https://help.refined.com/portal/13) (requires login), and ask them to upload it to Refined.

They have done this as a favor for us. Refined said that they have opened a new feature request, allowing us to do this ourselves, but it is unknown when that will be.

> ℹ️ The sitemap is uploaded only for the **Refined Online** version of the documentation. The other sites don’t need to be crawled.

To test if a website has a sitemap, you type out the name of the website (for the docs, it would be "**https://documentation.chaos.com**") then **/** and add **sitemap.xml** at the end. It does not matter how the sitemap file is named; this works regardless. Together, the link looks like this:

You can apply this to all the Chaos websites: https://corona-renderer.com, https://enscape3d.com, etc.
