## **Placement**

---

The UI path section should always go after the Overview.

- If the UI path does **not **include images, it can be placed **within the Overview section**.
- If it **does **include images, it should appear **after the entire Overview section**.

If necessary for clarity, insert a Divider (horizontal line) between the Overview and the UI path.

## Format

---

If a **menu** is the starting point:

<span style="color: #000000">**menu **</span><span style="color: #000000">></span><span style="color: #000000">** item**</span><span style="color: #000000"> ></span><span style="color: #000000">** item **</span>

If **something other** than a menu is the starting point:

<span style="color: #000000">||starting point||</span><span style="color: #000000">** **</span><span style="color: #000000">></span><span style="color: #000000">** item**</span><span style="color: #000000"> ></span><span style="color: #000000">** item**</span>

Examples:

**Customize **menu > **Show UI **>** Show Floating Toolbars**

||Render Setup window||** **>** V-Ray tab** >** Environment **rollout

When the UI path appears within a sentence, there is no mandatory format, but for consistency, you can use this style: **starting point/menu**<span style="color: #202124"> ></span>** item**<span style="color: #202124"> > </span><span style="color: #202124">**item**</span>

- <span style="color: #202124">If the item consists of a name and a "menu", "tab" etc. , bold only the name. For example, </span><span style="color: #202124">**Edit**</span><span style="color: #202124"> menu.</span>
- If the item is an image of a button, use the button's tooltip in the path.
- If the item is a menu, button, etc. and this is not obvious, put the word "menu" or "button" after it.
- If the item is a file directory (for example, on Windows, using a backslash \), do not italicize it. Italic styling slants the text opposite the backslash direction, making the path harder to read.

Example: *C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\[host_application]\t**ools*

## Images

---

If the page is about a UI element that is accessed via a button on a toolbar, show the toolbar (or part of it, if it is large) with the following:

- 1pt red box (RGB 255,0,0) around the button

## Conditionals

---

Some UI paths are conditional; for example, there are sometimes different UI paths depending on whether V-Ray or V-Ray GPU is the Production renderer. If the UI path is conditional, put the condition under the UI path in parentheses, no formatting. For example: [https://documentation.chaos.com/space/VMAX/113575643/Camera](https://documentation.chaos.com/space/VMAX/113575643/Camera)

Sometimes, a UI element differs between V-Ray and V-Ray GPU (as with many of the rollouts in the Render Setup window). In this case, place the UI element under the path as usual, but add a centered caption below the UI element to indicate what it is.
