This page provides details on writing microcopy for transitional text.

## **What is a Transitional Text?**

---

**Transitional text **confirms that an action is happening when there are few or no other indicators. The transitional text doesn’t require any additional action or taps from the user. For example, a downloading progress bar.

## **Rules**

---

- Use the present continuous tense if the action is in progress, for example, “is uploading”, “are sending”.
- Ellipses (omission followed by dots) can help to indicate that the delay will be brief.
- Specific words work better, but verbs like “getting” work well for many ambiguous circumstances, too.

## **Common Patterns**

---

Common patterns include:

- {verb}ing [the {noun}] [...]
*Example: Updating payment method…*
- {process name} continues[...]
*Example: Downloading continues…*

Other patterns are also possible.

## **Examples**

---

Some common examples are the “Loading…” bar that appears when opening a scene in Envision, or the “Downloading…” progress bar that appears when downloading sample scenes in the home screens of Envision and Vantage.
