This page provides a basic distinction between register, sign up, and join.

## **Sign Up**

---

- Use “Sign Up” for a **simple and quick process**.
- Always pair with “Log In” (e.g., Sign Up / Log In).
- Do not pair with “Sign In” – it confuses users.
- Use related forms consistently: signing up.

> ℹ️ When using “log in” as a **verb phrase**, write as two words: **log in**.
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ When using “log in” to refer to a **process **or a **page**, write it as one word: **login**.

## **Register**

---

- Use “Register” for processes that require **filling out forms and providing detailed information**.
- Use related forms consistently: registration, registering.

## **Join**

---

- Use “Join” to create a **sense of community**.
- Use related forms consistently: joining.

## **Example**

---

In the following example, the combined use of ‘Sign Up’ and ‘Sign In’ is avoided by changing the ‘Sign Up’ label to ‘Create an Account.’ This allows ‘Sign In’ to be safely used as the title for the login window.
