## **Create Views in CAD/BIM**

---

Each host application has its own workflow for creating views. Expand the relevant section below for step-by-step instructions.

<summary>Create a View in SketchUp</summary>

To create a View in SketchUp, click the **+** button in the **Scenes** section. SketchUp adds a new Scene, named *Scene 1*, *Scene 2 *by default, and so on, depending on how many Scenes already exist in the project.

> ℹ️ When creating a new Scene in SketchUp, that Scene is also available as a ‘View’ in Enscape (see the <u>[Create a View in Enscape section](#Create-Views-in-Enscape)</u>).

> ⚠️ When **Synchronize Views** is enabled during Scene creation in SketchUp, the vertical frustum of the camera is used, and this information appears in the **Enscape Visual Settings** next to the **Field of View** option. The vertical or horizontal frustum is saved along with the View and is respected even after **Synchronize Views** is disabled, including when the View is later selected from the **View Management** list.

<summary>Create a View in Revit</summary>

To create a View in Revit, go to **View** > **Create** > **3D View** > **Camera**.


 

Revit's **Live Camera** function also helps navigate and set up a View in a complex project. To enable the camera, click the arrow associated with the **Synchronize Views** button in the Enscape ribbon in the Revit user interface and select **Revit Live Camera**.

To deactivate the Revit Live Camera once the View is created, click the **Revit Live Camera** button again to pause it, or click the arrow on the button and select **Synchronize Views** instead.

<summary>Create a View in Rhino</summary>

To create a View in Rhino:

- Open the **Named Views** window and click the **Create using widget…** button.

- In the dialog that opens, name the View and click **OK**.

- Select the Target. Rhino displays the word *Target* in the command line, indicating that the focal point of the camera needs to be selected.

- Select the camera location. Rhino displays the word *Location* in the command line and shows a camera with its viewport dimensions in the Rhino Viewports.

- Define the lens length.

Rhino creates the View and lists it in the **Named Views** window under the name specified in the **Create Named View Using Widget** window.

> ℹ️ Rhino does not support saving the Time of Day with a View.

<details>
<summary>Create a View in ArchiCAD</summary>

To create a View using the Archicad UI:

- Open a project in Archicad and make sure a 3D View is open (Perspective or Axonometry).
- Enable the **Live Update** and **Synchronize Views** functions in Enscape.
- Set up the View in either the Archicad viewport or the Enscape viewport.
- In the Archicad **Navigator** panel, select **View Map**. The View Map should list only the name of the currently open project.
- Click **Save Current View** from the icons at the bottom of the **View Map** panel. The **Save View** window opens.
- By default, the View name is set to **By Project Map** and cannot be edited. Change the setting to **Custom** to rename the View.
- Click **Create** in the bottom-right corner of the **Save View** window.

Archicad closes the window and lists the new View in the **View Map** panel. The View also appears in the Enscape **View Management** panel.

To set the initial Time of Day for a View, right-click the View in the **View Map** panel and select **3D Projection Settings**.

Once you click **OK**, the project updates, and you can see these changes in the Enscape window.

The Time of Day can also be adjusted independently within Enscape with **Right-click+Shift+left/right mouse drag**. This change does not save to the View listed in the Archicad **View Map** panel unless the **3D Projection Settings** for Perspective or Axonometry are set globally.

<summary>Create a View in Vectorworks</summary>

To create a View in Vectorworks:

- Navigate to **View** > **Save View**.
- In the **Save View** dialog, name the View and save it.

> ✅ Vectorworks does not save the sun position with the View. The Time of Day can still be set with **Right-click+Shift+drag left/right** or the keyboard shortcuts.
