## **Overview**

**Collaborative Annotations** is a tool for adding notes or annotations (also called **Issues**) to aid project collaboration.

This collaboration tool can be opened through the Enscape Viewport, and through the **C** keyboard key, or by clicking the button in the Enscape Viewport User Interface (UI).

## **Newforma Konekt Source Fields**

Working with a **Newforma Konekt Source** is slightly more involved than working with a Local Source, as there are more fields available in Newforma Konekt.

The first thing you need to do is set up a [Newforma Konekt Account](https://konekt.help.newforma.com/).  Although Newforma Konekt works with all the CADs that Enscape supports, if you are using Revit, then Newforma Konekt additionally provide [a free Revit Newforma Konekt plugin](https://www.newforma.com/app_market/autodesk-revit/autodesk-revit-newforma-konekt/).

> ℹ️ Some limitations currently exist in relation to Newforma Konekt fields and not all fields that are available in the Newforma Konekt Hub are currently integrated into the Enscape Collaboration tool.

### **Known Issue: Newforma Konekt API Change**

Newforma is replacing the permission service behind the Newforma Konekt (BIM Track) API. The change was released on 24 August 2026 and alters how user roles are returned by the API. The change applies to all integrations that connect to Newforma Konekt, including Enscape.


**What you may experience**

If you are signed in to Newforma Konekt in Collaborative Annotation, issue synchronization can fail without an error message. Confirmed effects so far:

- Issue thumbnails are not saved.
- Comments added to new issues are not saved.

Because the failure is silent, other parts of the integration might also behave unexpectedly. The list above shows confirmed examples, not a complete list. Verify in Newforma Konekt that your issues contain everything you expect.


**Why this cannot be fixed in older Enscape versions**

The change originates on the Newforma side and is not backward compatible. Previously released Enscape versions target the earlier API and cannot be updated retroactively to support the new one.
