This page provides a quick starting point for working with materials in Enscape Envision. Overview Material workflows involve several user interface elements: Pick Material tool, Material Tab in the bottom dock panel, and the Material Editor in the Details tab. Apply Materials There are two main use cases for applying materials to objects in a project: When no materials have been assigned in the project yet. When some objects already have materials applied (either imported or sourced from the Chaos Cosmos library), and you want to reuse these materials on other objects. When there are no materials in the project If there are no materials in your project yet, you can apply Cosmos materials to your objects. To do so: Select an object. Click the Asset library button in the toolbar. Filter the Materials category to display the material assets only. Drag-and-drop the material onto the selected object in the project. Alternatively, click the Import button of the Material asset to apply the material to the selection. Refer to the Cosmos Asset Library page for more information on how to download Cosmos materials. When there are some materials in the project To apply a material from one object to another: Select an object in the viewport with the Select ( ) tool. The parameters of the object are visible in the Details tab. Click the Select Material ( ) toolbar button and pick a material in the viewport. Note that the object selection is still active, although the Details tab now shows the material parameters. Click Apply to selection ( ) in the Details tab. The material is now applied to the selected object. Outlines of Toon materials may render incorrectly in Envision. It is recommended to disable them before exporting a .vrscene from any application and importing it into Envision. Edit Cosmos Materials To edit a Chaos Cosmos material: Open the Materials bottom tab ( ) and select the Cosmos material. Click to display the material parameters in the Material Editor on the right. In the Material Editor, click Embed Material . Note that by embedding the Cosmos material, the material and its textures will no longer be managed by Chaos Cosmos. Modify the material settings in the Material Editor.
