This page provides details about the different types of proximity sensors in Enscape Envision. Proximity sensors can be created and edited only in Advanced mode. In Easy mode, they can only be imported. Overview Proximity sensors control the animation behavior of a specific object or set of objects, so that they can respond dynamically when approached by the camera or by other animated elements (such as characters, vehicles, etc.). The proximity sensors trigger specific animation behaviors – rotation, slide, or scale – when the object(s) is approached by the predefined 'activator' element. Thus, you can seamlessly animate not only individual objects but also the dynamic relationships between the objects to create more coherent and realistic visual narratives. The proximity sensors could be useful in common cases such as a door or window opening when approached by the camera or a specific character; a door or window sliding when approached by the camera or a specific character; a wardrobe or cabinet door is opening; a parking barrier is lifting; and many more. Proximity sensors are created using the Create sensors toolbar buttons. The parameters of all proximity sensor types can be found in the  Details tab  in the right-hand side panel after element selection. Sensors can be selected in the  Objects tab  in the left-hand side panel. The available types of sensors are: Slide  – The linked object moves at a distance specified by the Distance slider.  Rotation  – The linked object rotates at an angle specified by the Rotation angle slider.   Scale  – The linked object gets scaled according to the Scale factor. Actions with Sensors Once a sensor is associated with an object/group and activators are defined, you can modify the following: A field showing the name and type of the selected sensor, allowing you also to rename it or change its type. The new name is automatically displayed in the respective Object filter tab. Lock  – Disables   the sensor transformation options (position and rotation). The options become greyed out. Click  to enable the options for manipulation again. Hide  – Toggles the visibility of the element on and off. Invisible sensors are indicated by   and are not rendered. Land to surface  – Moves the selected sensor downwards (along the Z axis) until its bounding box collides with the first object below it. Duplicate Sensor  – Duplicates the selected sensor. Copy Sensor Settings  – Copies all settings of the selected sensor. Paste Sensor Settings  – Pastes the previously copied sensor settings to the selected sensor. Lock to Pivot  - Locks the sensor to the pivot point of the target object. Align  - Aligns the sensor with the space of the target object. Revert the transformation  – Restores all position and rotation values to their default values, i.e to zero. Transformation World coordinates  – When enabled, transformations are done using world coordinates, i.e. the global scene axes. When disabled, transformations are done using local coordinates, i.e. object’s own axes. Position  – Moves the sensor along the X, Y and Z axes. Rotation  – Rotates the sensor along the X, Y and Z axes. Direction See the sections below for each sensor type. Activators General  – Specifies the type of element that activates the sensor. Cameras  –  Specifies whether the sensor is activated by the camera. Characters  – Specifies whether the sensor is activated by crowd characters. Vehicles  – Specifies whether the sensor is activated by traffic vehicles. Custom  – Specify custom activator objects. This feature has not been implemented yet. Activation zone  – Specifies the radius around the sensor that objects need to be in to activate the sensor. Animation Animation  – Specifies whether the target object should be animated. Type  – Specifies the type of animation. Play once  – Plays the animation once, then displays the last frame of the animation for all further frames (e.g. door opens and remains open). Loop  – Plays the entire animation, then restarts on the initial frame. Speed  – Specifies the animation duration in seconds. Start delay  – Specifies the animation delay in seconds. Animation smoothness  – Specifies the type of animation interpolation. Linear  – Applies a straight-line transition with a constant speed, creating a uniform change between the states of the object without acceleration or deceleration. Ease out  – Starts the transition at full speed and then gradually slows down as it approaches the end point, creating a more natural finish to the animation. Ease in  – Starts the transition slowly, gradually accelerating to full speed. Ease in and out  – Combines the Ease In and Ease Out types. The transition starts slowly, accelerates in the middle, and then slows down again toward the end. This is the smoothest and most natural-looking transition style. Bounce  – Adds a bounce effect to the transition. The animation overshoots the target slightly and then oscillates before settling at the final value. Slide Sensor Direction  – Determines the direction in which the triggered sliding animation occurs. Distance  – Specifies the distance which the target object should travel. Rotation Sensor Direction  – Determines the direction in which the triggered rotation animation occurs. Rotation angle  – Specifies the angle to which the target object should be rotated. Scale Sensor Direction  – Determines the direction in which the triggered scaling animation occurs. Scale factor  – Specifies the factor by which the target object should be scaled. Notes Sensors cannot be assigned to multiple, ungrouped objects simultaneously. A sensor can only control one object or group of objects at a time. See also: Details Tab Objects Tab Toolbar
