This page provides information about the Live Link feature in Enscape Envision.

> ❌ The Live Link feature is in Beta and is available for Envision 1.4 and later.

> ❌ Envision Live Link with Enscape requires Enscape 4.18 to be installed.

> ⚠️ To connect to Envision via Distributed Rendering from V-Ray for Rhino, V-Ray for SketchUp, or V-Ray for Revit, a compatible V-Ray or Chaos Bridge version is required. For Envision 1.4, install V-Ray 7.20.02 or Chaos Bridge 7.20.02, for example:
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ - Chaos Bridge 7 for SketchUp, Update 2.2
> ⚠️ - V-Ray 7 for SketchUp, Update 2.2
> ⚠️ - Chaos Bridge 7 for Revit, Update 2.2
> ⚠️ - V-Ray 7 for Revit, Update 2.2

## **Overview**

---

The Live Link feature instantly displays changes made in CAD or BIM applications without manually exporting and importing .vrscene files into Enscape Envision. Updates from the CAD or BIM application layer beneath existing Envision work and don't overwrite it. You can save, close, and resume work without data loss.

Live Link is initiated via a dedicated button in Enscape or the CAD tool. Envision accepts the first incoming Live Link connection and loads the project. Live Link listens for one connection type at a time: either V-Ray or Enscape. Only one active connection is supported – any new connection interrupts and replaces the previous one. The enable buttons are located in the top toolbars of the applications. When the link is initiated, a Live Link object is created in the [Objects tab](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ENVISION/pages/124290909) on the left. Live Link object settings are controlled from the Details tab on the right.

## **Live Link Setups**

---

### **Set up Live Link from Enscape**

> ℹ️ The Live Link Provider only needs to be set once in Envision. After that, close Envision and initiate all subsequent live links directly from the Enscape application – Envision opens automatically.

- Viewport view synchronization (without named views)
- Geometry
- Materials
- Lights

## **Live Link Limitations with Enscape**

---

Live Link between Envision and Enscape has the following limitations:

- Revit specific: Switching views and exporting geometry from the active toolbar are not supported.
- Views / scenes are not supported.
- Visual settings are not supported.
- Limited environment support — in Envision, the **Use environment from this scene** option must be manually enabled by right-clicking the Live Link object and selecting it from the menu.
- Object names, hierarchy and some environment parameters are transferred on initialization, but live updates are not synchronized.
- Some background image formats are not supported (.ktx).
