This page provides information about the Mix material in Enscape Envision. Overview The Mix material layers two materials – a top material and a base material – to create a more complex material. The Mix material properties are available in the Material Editor when the Material configuration is set to Mix. Properties Switch Materials ( ) – Switches the places of the material layers. For more information, see the Switching Materials section below. Base Material – Specifies the base material. Top Material ( ) – Specifies a material to use as a coating. Select a material from the Asset Library and either import it or drag it into the Top Material slot. The material automatically becomes the top layer of the Mix material. For more information, see the Adding a Top Material section below. Add Texture – Controls the strength of the top material effect through a texture or through the Mix Amount slider. Right-click to display a dropdown menu with options for using Texture and Mix Amount . For more information, see the Mixing Materials section and the examples below. Mix Amount – A multiplier that controls the strength of the top material effect. The Mix Amount parameter is unavailable when Texture is used. For more information, see the Blending with Multiplier example below. Tiling – Opens the Tiling Settings dialog, which controls the textures of a material globally. The Tiling Settings dialog is accessible by hovering over a base or top material and clicking the Tiling button. The dialog contains two tabs: Placement and Randomization . Working with Mix Materials Adding a Top Material A Mix material is composed of a top material and a base material. To add a top material, click the Top Material ( ) button. The Cosmos Asset Library opens, where materials are available to browse and select. Clicking Import automatically assigns the selected material as the top material. Alternatively, drag a material from the Asset Library into the Top Material slot. Switching Materials Use the Switch ( ) arrows to switch the top and base materials. Mixing Materials The strength of the Top material is controlled through its slider or a texture. Dragging the slider left decreases the effect of the top material on the overall appearance of the Mix material. Dragging the slider right increases the effect. Alternatively, add a texture in the combined slot on the right to control the effect of the Top material. Examples The following examples demonstrate the effect that individual Mix Material parameters have on the material appearance. Click on any image to view it at a higher resolution. Example: Blending with Texture This example shows how the top and base materials are mixed through a texture. In the first image, there is no texture loaded, and the materials are mixed through the Mix amount multiplier, which is set to 50. In the second image, a texture is loaded in the Texture slot. No texture is used. A bitmap texture is used for blending. Example: Swapping Materials This example shows how the wallpaper pattern changes when the top and base materials are swapped. A texture is being used for blending the two materials. Original Swapped Example: Blending with Multiplier This example shows the effect of the Mix amount parameter. Note that the values of 0, 50 and 100 used here correspond to black, grey and white color.
