This page offers a quick starting point for shading your scene with Chaos Cosmos material assets in Chaos Vantage. Overview Chaos Cosmos provides an extensive collection of pre-made, high-quality materials designed to fit a variety of scene types, from architectural visualizations to product renderings. Here, you'll learn how to access and apply these materials directly to objects in your scene, allowing you to quickly enhance the realism and detail of your projects without the need for complex material creation. For more information about the Chaos Cosmos browser, go to the Chaos Cosmos Browser page. Steps Follow the steps below: Step 1: Download Cosmos assets To find and download a Cosmos material asset: Navigate to the Materials category in the Chaos Cosmos browser and find your desired assets. Hover over an asset and click the Download ( ) button. or Alternatively, click the asset to preview it first, and then click the Download button. The downloaded assets are marked with the symbol. To see all downloaded assets, go to the top dropdown menu of the browser and select the Downloaded category. You can also mark any asset as your favorite from the button. To see all your favorites, go to the top dropdown menu of the browser and select the Likes category. Step 2: Apply Cosmos assets To preview how a Chaos Cosmos material asset looks on an object in the scene without assigning it: drag the material asset onto an object. Note that you should not drop the asset onto the object. To apply a Chaos Cosmos material asset on a scene object: select the object and drag and drop the asset onto it. Dragging a Cosmos material asset into the viewport adds the asset to the Material Lister in Vantage. Note that the Import button does not apply the material to an object. It only adds the Cosmos material to the Material Lister. If your geometry does not have UVs, enable the Use triplanar mapping option of the Cosmos material for automatic UV mapping. Otherwise, the texture UVs will depend on the UVs of the geometry. To replace a material with a Chaos Cosmos material: drag the Cosmos one and drop it onto the selected object. To replace a material across the scene: hold Alt and drop the Cosmos material asset onto any geometry with the original material assigned. Step 3: Modify Cosmos assets After importing a Cosmos asset to your scene, you can change the asset’s materials. To do it, drag and drop any downloaded material from the Cosmos browser or the Material Lister onto the asset.
