This page offers a quick starting point on changing and rendering lights in Chaos Vantage. Overview In Chaos Vantage, you have the flexibility to import existing lights from a V-Ray scene (vrscene) or another Vantage scene and customize their parameters to suit your need, or you can create entirely new lights directly within the application. Once imported or created, these lights can be precisely positioned and adjusted, giving you full control over their intensity, color, shadows, and other attributes. This allows you to shape the lighting environment of your scene, enhancing its realism and mood, whether you're aiming for natural daylight effects or carefully crafted artificial lighting setups. Want to follow along but don’t have a license?   Steps 1. Export a scene to Vantage. Export the scene to a  .vrscene  file. Follow the links below for detailed instructions for . vrscene  export per host app. V-Ray for 3ds Max V-Ray for Cinema 4D V-Ray for Houdini V-Ray for Maya V-Ray for Nuke V-Ray for SketchUp V-Ray for Revit V-Ray for Rhino V-Ray for Unreal 2. Load and preview the scene in Vantage. Load the exported  .vrscene  or a  .vantage  file in Vantage. 3. Create lights. Use the Lights ( ) toolbar icon to open a dropdown menu with different light types available for creation. Select a light type and the light gizmo of this type appears. Place the light where you need it, and then modify its parameters such as color, intensity, radius, etc. Use the  Ctr+D  keyboard shortcut combination to clone lights. The clone is automatically selected. Then use the  Move  tool to adjust the position of the clone. Use the  Import lights from file  ( ) button to import existing lights from a supported external file. 4. Edit light parameters. Lights can be selected either in the viewport with the Select ( ) tool or in the Objects tab. Available parameters per light can be controlled in the Light lister located in the Lights tab. The Compact, Basic, and Advanced buttons above the lister control what parameters are displayed. Use the  Compact  mode to control only On/Off, color, and intensity parameters of the lights. Use the  Basic  mode to access more common parameters such as directionality, shadows, etc. Use the  Advanced  mode to have access to all available parameters, for example shadow harshness or profiles of IES lights. 5. Snap menu usage. In the  Snap  dialog menu, you can specify the snapping intervals for position, rotation and scale values of the selected object. The dialog menu is accessible by right-clicking the Snap button ( ) in the top toolbar. Note that you must enable Move, Rotate, or Scale from the top toolbar to display the Snap button. To enable snapping, click the  Snap  button (or use the shortcut  S ) and click again to disable it.
