This page provides information about the Viewport bar in Chaos Vantage.


## **Overview**

The Viewport bar in Vantage contains camera settings such as pick focus, grid overlay, auto exposure and compensation, etc., as well as render settings such as viewing modes, quality presets, denoiser settings, options for display corrections and navigation, and many more. The Vantage bar is located right under the top toolbar and above the viewport.

| **Exposure** | ![Vantage_TopToobar_AutoExposure.png](media://56f66013-4ea1-4ffa-a34e-fc46c4c43c8f) | **Toggle auto-exposure** – Enables/disables automatic calculation of exposure. When enabled, ignores set camera exposure. Transition time between exposure can be set in Edit > Preferences > Interaction > Auto exposure time. The arrow on the right opens the *Exposure settings* dialog where you can set the auto-exposure max range value. |

| **View Modes** | ![image](media://7514f8de-2d8d-4885-b28b-c1623818929f) | **Specifies the viewport view mode** – Opens a dropdown of view modes and allows you to select one. The available view modes are:<br>- **Beauty **– Previews the complete render.
- **Atmosphere **– Previews the atmospheric effects Simple fog 1, Simple fog 2 and Scattered fog.
- **Background **– Previews the image background.
- **Diffuse Filter **– Previews the pure diffuse surface color.
- **Global Illumination **– Previews the diffuse surface global illumination.
- **Lighting **– Previews the diffuse direct surface lighting.
- **Reflection **– Previews the reflections on the surface.
- **Refraction **– Previews the refractions on the surface.
- **Specular **–  Previews the surface specular highlights.
- **Self-Illumination **– Previews the self-illumination of surfaces.
- **Bumped Normals **– Previews the normals generated by bump maps, in screen space.
- **Z-Depth **– Previews the z-depth of the scene.
- **Alpha **– Shows a black and white mask where all objects in the scene are white while the background is black.
- **Material Mask **– Previews the randomly assigned material IDs at initial scene load.
- **Object Mask **– Previews the randomly assigned object IDs at initial scene load.
- **Selection Mask** – Generates a black and white mask where the selected objects are in white, while everything else is black. The mask is used in post production by copying it (Ctrl+C) and then pasting it (Ctrl+V) in a post-processing application such as Photoshop.<br>> ⚠️ View modes except for **Beauty **render with a disabled Denoiser regardless of setting. |

The presets can be modified by changing the *render_quality_presets.json *file located in "*%AppData%\Chaos\Vantage". *Note that for versions prior to Vantage 2.5, the location is *"%AppData%\Chaos Group\Vantage"*. |

Available only when Primary denoiser in **Edit > Preferences > Render defaults** is set to NVIDIA OptiX AI and driver version is 535 or newer. |

Available only when Primary denoiser in **Edit > Preferences > Render defaults** is set to **DLSS Ray Reconstruction **and driver version is 537.13 or newer.<br>- **Performance (4X)** – Switches the render core to render at a quarter of the resolution and upscales the result to match the required resolution and performs spatial and temporal anti-aliasing.
- **Balanced (3X)** – Switches the render core to render at a 1/3 of the resolution and upscales the result to match the required resolution and performs spatial and temporal anti-aliasing. Available only when [Secondary denoiser](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LAV/pages/124621189) is set to **Same as Primary**.
- **Quality (2.25X) **– Switches the render core to render at a relatively half of the resolution and upscales the result to match the required resolution and performs spatial and temporal anti-aliasing. Available only when [Secondary denoiser](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LAV/pages/124621189) is set to **Same as Primary**.
- **DLLA (1X)** – Renders at full required resolution and performs spatial and temporal anti-aliasing. |

Available options are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, and 6x. The range 3x - 6x options are available only for NVidia RTX 50XX series.<br>> ⚠️ DLSS Frame Generation is supported on NVidia driver version 527 and later.<br>> ⚠️ DLSS Frame Generation performance boost is scene dependent and may not match the chosen setting. |

A mid-value shows the denoised image until it reaches enough number of samples, then it starts to blend with the raw image. Note: images with denoiser > 0 and denoiser = 0 will be different in reflections and refractions. Visible only when the denoiser type is set to **Vantage **in **[Edit ](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LAV/pages/124621189)****> Preferences > Render Defaults**. |
| **Display** | ![image](media://1b904401-d99e-4142-8882-49a85b115f37) | **Display correction **– Opens the *Display correction settings* dialog where you can specify the display correction to use:<br>- **Auto **– Uses an automatic correction, depending on the current display output (sRGB or HDR10).
- **Raw **– Doesn't use display correction; instead, it uses the raw output in the linear rendering color space.
- **sRGB** – Uses sRGB display (Rec.709 primaries, sRGB transfer function).
- **HDR (Rec.2100-PQ) **– Uses HDR10 display (Rec.2100/Rec.2020 primaries, PQ transfer function).
- **OpenColorIO **– Uses OCIO display correction.<br>**Input color space** – Specifies the input color space for the display correction from the OCIO configuration. It should match the current scene's rendering color space (linear-sRGB or ACEScg). Available when  OpenColorIO display correction is selected.<br>**Display **– Specifies the display to use from the OCIO configuration. Available when **OpenColorIO **display correction is selected.<br>**View **– Specifies the display view to use from the OCIO configuration. Available when **OpenColorIO **display correction is selected.<br>**Look **– Specifies an optional look override from the OCIO configuration. Available when **OpenColorIO **display correction is selected. |

Works only in **Free look** mode. (Shortcut:* C*)* See the **[Collision section](https://youtu.be/fPffEB3tIps?t=127)** of the Navigation video.*<br>**Eye height** – Sets the eye height for the camera in meters when in **Free look** mode and **Collision **mode is enabled.  – Opens advanced collision settings. Visible only when **Collision** mode is enabled.<br>**Step height ratio** – Adjusts sensitivity when climbing steps or obstacles. Higher values allow stepping on higher surfaces.<br>**Height tolerance** – Specifies the height up to which no collision is detected. For example, if you have small rocks or grass below that value, they are ignored and the camera does not bounce up and down.<br>**Gravity **– Specifies the acceleration applied on the camera when collision is enabled. |

| **View Filters** | ![image](media://8da1d755-7592-4d71-a119-cf2b4fcf14dd) | **Opens View filters** – Opens the *View filter* dialog where you can control the visibility of the gizmos. Available when the Select, Move, Rotate, Scale, or Move Pivot tools are enabled.<br>- **Light Gizmos** – When enabled, draws a gizmo for lights in the scene. (Shortcut: *G*)
- **Decal Gizmos** – When enabled, draws a gizmo for decals in the scene.
- **Camera Gizmos** – When enabled, draws a gizmo for cameras in the scene.
- **Camera Path** – When enabled, draws the path that the camera will take in animation.
- **World Axis** – When enabled, draws a world axis gizmo in the lower left corner of the viewport. The world axis gizmo indicates the world axis alignment in the scene. It updates while navigating in the scene and switching cameras. |
