This page provides information about the Fire and Smoke Source, also known as Fluid Sim Body.

## **Overview**

---

A Source controls where fluid emits from in a Fire & Smoke simulation and how much of it emits. The Source tells the simulator where in 3D space fluid appears, so every simulation needs at least one Source to produce fire or smoke.

The Source is linked to an object in the scene, such as a primitive, and emits fluid from that object's surface or volume. For example, a Source linked to a sphere turns the sphere into a fireball or a burning object. A Source linked to a flat plane creates a wide stream of rising smoke.

> ⚠️ Note that Fire and Smoke Simulation is an experimental feature.
