License Managers can assign licenses, invite and remove users, and control Chaos Credits across the whole Organization. They cannot purchase products or access billing. Use this role when the person who buys licenses is not the person who manages them, or when one Admin can't cover every team. An Organization has exactly one Admin, but it can have one or more License Managers. ## **Roles compared** --- License Managers have the same permissions for managing licenses, users, and credits as the Admin. They cannot be limited to a team or a subset of users. ## **Make a user a License Manager** --- Only the Admin can assign a License Manager, and only a member of the Organization can be a License Manager. To give the role to someone new, invite them first, then change their role. *For steps on how to invite a new user, see the **[Managing Users and Licenses](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LIC5/pages/124657185)** page.* > Macro (anchor) ## **License Manager Eligibility** --- A user can be a License Manager in only one Organization at a time. You cannot promote a user who is already an Admin or a License Manager in another Organization. That user can still be a regular member of your Organization and use any licenses you assign to them. ## **Remove License Manager Role** --- The Admin can remove the License Manager role at any time. The person stays in the Organization and keeps their assigned products. 1. Go to **Organization **>** Users & Product assignments**. 2. Click the three-dot menu next to the License Manager and select **Change role**. 3. Select **User**, then click **Confirm**. 4. Click **Got it**. The person loses access to license, user, and credit management straight away. To remove them from the Organization entirely, use **Remove user** from the same menu instead. ## **Working as a License Manager** --- Once promoted, a License Manager manages the Organization from the **Organization** menu in My Chaos, the same place the Admin does. - **Users & Product assignments** – Invite and remove users, assign and revoke licenses with **Assign products**, and turn **Floating license sharing** on or off. - **Chaos Credits Management** – Set and remove credit limits for users, and view the Credits Usage Report. - **Usage reports** – View the License Usage Report and the Credits Usage Report for the whole Organization. Purchasing and billing options are not available to License Managers. When the Organization needs more seats, products, or credits, the Admin buys them. ## **FAQ** --- **How many License Managers can an Organization have?** As many as you need. All of them have the same permissions across the Organization. **Can a License Manager make other users License Managers?** No. Only the Admin can change roles. **Can a License Manager buy more seats or credits?** No. Purchasing, auto-renewal, and billing stay with the Admin. **I set a user as a License Manager, but they still don't see my Organization's licenses and credits. Why?** The user is most likely already an Admin or a License Manager in another Organization. *See the **[License Manager Eligibility](#Eligibility)** section.* **Can I limit a License Manager to one team or group of users?** Not at the moment. License Manager permissions always cover the whole Organization.
