This page explains how to secure your account with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

## **Overview**

---

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a highly secure, optional layer of protection to your Chaos account. When enabled, your account requires two distinct forms of identification: your standard password and a one-time code generated by a smartphone authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).

> ✅ **Key Benefits:**
> ✅
> ✅ - **Enhanced Security:** Even if someone acquires your password, they cannot log in without physical access to your mobile device.
> ✅ - **Email Alerts:** You will receive email notifications whenever 2FA is enabled or disabled.

## **Enabling 2FA**

---

## **Disabling 2FA**

---

If you need to switch phones or prefer not to use 2FA, you can disable it at any time:

1. Navigate to the **Two-factor authentication** page in your account settings.
2. The page will display your current status: *"Two-factor authentication is enabled for your account."*
3. Click the **Disable 2FA** link to turn the feature off.
4. Once disabled, you will receive an email notification. If this action was not authorized by you, the email includes instructions to contact Support immediately to secure your account.

## **Recovering Your Account**

---

If you lose access to your mobile device or to your authenticator app, you will not be able to complete the two-factor authentication step to log in. In this situation, please submit a [support ticket](https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) to our Support team. We will guide you through a secure identity verification process to help you safely regain access to your account.
