## **Overview**

---

When installing Phoenix, the installer will automatically uninstall any previous versions by default. The following steps can be taken to manually uninstall Phoenix.

## **Windows**

---

Before uninstalling Phoenix, make sure that Maya or Phoenix components are not being used. Then go to either of the following:

**Start menu** >** Control Panel **>** Programs and Features **>** Phoenix FD for Maya 20xx for x64**

**Start menu** >** All Programs** >** Chaos Group **>** Phoenix FD for Maya 20xx for x64 **>** Uninstall Phoenix FD for Maya**

This will start the Phoenix uninstaller. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove Phoenix from your system and restore any files overwritten by the installation.

## **Linux**

---

To uninstall Phoenix for Maya, start with root permissions the **uninstall_chaos program**, which is normally located in the** /usr/ChaosGroup/PhoenixFD/MayaNNNN-x64/uninstall/ **directory:

> ℹ️ Example
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ ***$ su***
> ℹ️ ***$ /usr/ChaosGroup/PhoenixFD/Maya2023-x64/uninstall/uninstaller_chaos***
> ℹ️ ***follow the instructions of the uninstaller***
> ℹ️ ***$ exit***

The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.
