This page describes the Enhancer Data Render Element in V-Ray for Cinema 4D.

## **Overview**

---

The **V-Ray Enhancer Data **render element contains three render channels: MaterialID, ObjectID, and depth. These channels are automatically generated and are necessary for accurate AI-based image enhancement using the [Chaos AI Enhancer tool](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VCLOUD/pages/126075881).

- **MaterialID **data is based on material IDs that are available in the scene.
- **ObjectID **data is based on auto-generated unique object IDs for every node in the scene.
- The **depth **channel is based on an auto-generated Z-depth element, which uses the scene’s camera clipping values to generate the depth data.

The Enhancer Data feature can be disabled upon [installation of V-Ray](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VC4D/pages/116855120).

> ✅ The AI Enhancer tool uses **Chaos Credits**. *For more information, see **[Chaos Credits](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LIC5/pages/860160024)** documentation.*

---

The **MaterialID **and **ObjectID **channels are auto-generated when the Enhancer Data render element is present. These are correlated to the way the Cryptomatte render element is generated internally. If Cryptomatte is added and set to the Node Name ID Type, this corresponds to the Object ID channel in VFB. In turn, it corresponds to the Material ID channel if set to the Node Material Name ID Type. The remaining Cryptomatte nodes don't correspond to the auto-generated Material and ObjectID channels and are listed as a separate Cryptomatte channel.

The auto-generated **depth **channel is calculated by using the camera clipping values of the camera in the scene. When the Z-depth render element is added manually and its settings are left by default, the manually added render element is listed separately in the VFB's channels list without overriding the auto-generated one. However, swapping the values of the "Depth Black" and "Depth White" options makes the Z-depth render element override the auto-generated depth channel in VFB's channels list.

### Example

After adding the Enhancer Data render element and rendering the image, three channels are auto-generated in the VFB: ObjectID channel, MaterialID channel, and depth channel. These channels then aid in the enhancement of the render using the [AI Enhancer](https://docs-chaos.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VCLOUD/pages/126075881). See the render after it is enhanced.
