This page provides information on how to manually uninstall V-Ray for Nuke.

## **Overview**

V-Ray installer will automatically uninstall any previous versions. If you need to manually uninstall V-Ray, make sure that Nuke or V-Ray components are not being used.

 

## **Windows**

### Uninstalling the Plug-In

---

Go to **Windows ** **Start >** ** Control Panel > ** **Programs and Features** ** **or** Start > ** **All** ** Programs > Chaos Group >** **V-Ray for ** **Nuke x for x64 ** **> Uninstall V-Ray for Nuke** ** **

This will start the V-Ray uninstaller. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove V-Ray from your system and restore any files overwritten by the installation.

After the uninstall is complete there may be some leftover files that you need to delete.

Please check if present and delete the following files and folders:

**C:\Program Files\Nukex\plugins\vray**  
**C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Nuke x for x64**


### Uninstalling the License Server

To remove the V-Ray license server, either use the * ****Add/Remove Programs**** * applet from the * ****Control Panel**** *, or select * ****Start menu > All Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray license server > **** * * ****Uninstall V-Ray license server**** *.

 

## **Linux**

### Uninstalling the Plug-In

To uninstall V-Ray for Nuke, start with root permissions the **uninstall** **er **program, which is normally located in the * ****/usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Nuke**** * * ****x**** * * ****-x64/uninstall/**** * directory, for example:

* ****$ su**** *   
 * ****$ /usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Nukex-x64/uninstall/uninstaller_chaos**** *   
 * ****follow the instructions of the uninstaller**** *   
 * ****$ exit**** *

**Note**: The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.

You may need to manually delete the folders:

**/usr/Foundry/Nukex-x64/plugins/vray/**   
**/usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Nukex-x64/**

 

### Uninstalling the License Server

To uninstall the V-Ray license server on Linux, start with root permissions the **uninstall_chaos** program, which is normally located in the * ****/usr/ChaosGroup/VRLService/uninstall**** * directory:

* ****$ su**** *   
 * ****$ /usr/ChaosGroup/VRLService/uninstall/uninstaller_chaos**** *   
 * ****follow the instructions of the uninstaller**** *   
 * ****$ exit**** *

**Note**: The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.
