This page provides information about the Scatter Color Texture in V-Ray. Scatter Color Texture Overview The Scatter Color texture is used with Chaos Scatter, to color the created instances according to the surface diffuse of the underlying Host object . For instance, if the underlying object has a checkered map applied to its diffuse slot, applying a Scatter Color texture to the material of the Scatter guest makes the instances checker-colored as well. This can be useful, for instance, for creating patterned furry carpets. The Scatter Color comes with V-Ray 7.20. This is a specialized texture that colors Scatter instances based on the host geometry’s UVs and material. It is commonly applied to the material of a Scatter guest. UI Paths ||V-Ray Asset Editor|| > Textures (right-click) >  Scatter Color ||V-Ray Asset Editor|| >  Create Asset  (left-click) >  Textures > Scatter Color  Parameters Source - Determines the texture to be sampled. Base Texture - Samples the base texture applied to the Scatter Host’s material. Custom Texture - Samples a custom texture positioned on the UVs of the Host object. Hue Randomness - Adds per-instance hue variation. A value of 0 disables the variation. Higher values make the effect more pronounced. Gamma Randomness - Adds per-instance gamma variation.A value of 0 disables the variation. Higher values make the effect more pronounced. Chaos Scatter Surface Color texture example This example shows how instances are colored according to the underlying object's texture. Chaos Scatter Surface Color texture is applied to the original model of the instances.
